«Agroprodservice» specialists took part in the International Dairy Congress
Specialists from «Agroprodservice», who work on dairy breeding development in the company, had visited the XI International Dairy Congress in Kyiv on March 6-7. Two days, 1500 participants, specialists from 280 dairy farms of Ukraine, foreign guests, government representatives – that was the XI International Dairy Congress.
The topic of the first section, which gathered companies’ directors and deputies with government representatives, was about strategic aspects – industry conclusions of the previous year, state support, development prospects for 2018. Deputy Minister on European integration of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Olha Trofimtseva, Head of the State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection of Ukraine Volodymyr Lapa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association of Milk Producers of Ukraine Vadym Chaharovskyi, and members of Parliament – Serhii Labaziuk (“Volia Narodu”), Oksana Prodan (Petro Poroshenko Bloc “Solidarity”), Vadym Ivchenko (“Batkivshchyna”), Dmytro Linko (Oleg Liashko Radical Party) – frankly discussed present industry state.
Milk industry is one of the key components of the Ukrainian agricultural sector. More than 37 thousand people (that is more than 9% from general number of people) are involved in agriculture. It was announced by Andrii Dykun, the Head of the Ukrainian Agrarian Council (UAC).
“Milk industry comprises 3.1% in the structure of agricultural gross output, and 11% in the structure of livestock production output. Only in 2017 dairy farms brought 3.3 billion hryvnias of taxes to the budget, while export currency earnings were equal to 281.1 mln USD,” added Andrii Dykun.
Mykhailo Sokolov, Deputy Head of the Ukrainian Agrarian Council (UAC), presented state support analysis for the current year within the “State Support in Livestock Industry” round table. Furthermore, Congress participants had an opportunity to express their thoughts about the effectiveness of present subsidies’ distribution procedure. The voting was held to get the answers. According to its results, the vast majority of interviewed producers were against approved ways of state support. Market participants say that governmental procedures will not promote industry development and will only foster further corruption development.
Another main topic discussed during the Congress was setting of prices and estimations for milk prices’ dynamics in 2018, that was described by the leading industry experts.
Visitors were also interested in the topic of cooperation and transition to the European standards of milk safety and quality.
Furthermore, participants of the XI International Dairy Congress received advices on their own effectiveness improvement. Experts had prepared interesting reports about additional profit sources of dairy farm, application of integrated approach to the dairy business management. Effective dairy farms also shared their own success stories.
The second day of the event was mostly devoted to the technological and veterinary issues. Ukrainian and international experts shared their knowledge and experience in haylage stock, fodder quality improvement etc. Another interesting topic was manure disposal. The representatives of “Kyshchentsi” LLC told about their experience of using solid manure for litter and presented video tour in the dairy trade complex. It was not the only video tour during the Congress. Workers of Franko Private and Rented Agricultural Company from Volyn region also presented their “distance tour”.
Participants also discussed only veterinary issues – how antibiotics when mastitis should be used, the best ways of treatment and preventive care.
In the end, the Congress visitors participated in panel discussion on issues of industrial management and reproductive performance.
